The catheter is used for drainage of the upper urinary tract in cases of abnormal functioning of the ureter due to the presence of stones, conditions after extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, ureteral stenosis, compression of the ureter from the outside, etc. The PIGTAIL catheter plays the role of internal drainage. Its advantage over previously used methods and external drainage is to reduce the risk of superinfection due to more complete urine output.
Kit elements:
Polyurethane catheter with PIGTAIL loop at both ends.
The diameter of the loop introduced into the pyelocaliceal system is 2 cm, and into the bladder 2 cm or 4 cm.
The end introduced into the kidneys is blind, and into the bladder is open.
Both ends have a sufficient number of lateral holes to ensure the free flow of urine.
The diameter of the catheter is from 3F to 10F., its length is from 14 cm to 30 cm.
Threaded catheter options are available to allow removal of the catheter without repeat cystoscopy.
