Bioindicator ATTEST No. 1261 is designed to monitor sterilization processes with flowing steam (gravity method) at a temperature of 132°C. The 3M ATTEST biological indicator is an indicator kit that includes the following components:
- a test strip containing spores of thermophilic bacteria Bacillus stearothermophilus (Geobacillus stearothermophilus) –ATCC 7953, minimum concentration 1.0×105 CFU
- a nutrient medium in a glass ampoule. After the end of the sterilization process, the ampoule must be broken by lightly squeezing the BI case (in the case of using a laboratory thermostat for incubation). The nutrient medium is a derivative of soy-trypsin broth with the addition of a pH-sensitive indicator paint
- bromcresol purple
- soft polypropylene case, which contains a test strip with spores and an ampoule with a nutrient medium
- blue polypropylene cap identifying BI No. 1261, which contains a hydrophobic bactericidal filter
- a label indicating the name of the BI, its number, type of sterilization, the name of the culture of microorganisms and the date of production. The label contains a chemical process indicator that changes color from pink to brown after steam sterilization. The label has space for writing the date, sterilizer number, etc.
The BI is placed in the places of the chamber that are the most difficult for steam to penetrate. As a rule, such places are located at the bottom of the sterilizer, at the drain and at the cover.
After the end of the sterilization process, the BI case must be placed in a thermostat or a special incubator at a temperature of 56±2°C. In the presence of viable spores of bacteria within 24 hours, the color of the nutrient medium changes from purple to yellow, which indicates an improper sterilization regimen. If the color of the nutrient medium has not changed, the sterilization regimen is considered satisfactory.
Simultaneously with the BI that has undergone the sterilization process, it is necessary to incubate the control BI that has not been exposed to the sterilant.
Storage conditions: BI is stored at a temperature of 15-30°C and a relative humidity of 35-60%.
Shelf life: 2 years
Biological indicators 3M ATTEST (3M ™ ATTEST ™) comply with the requirements of international standards ISO 11138-1, ISO 11138-3, as well as DSTU ISO 11138-1, DSTU ISO 11138-3 introduced in Ukraine.
