3M™ Cavilon™ is a liquid that is applied to dry clean skin and dries within 30 seconds to form a transparent and breathable protective barrier on the skin.
3M™ Cavilon™ does not contain alcohol. The product is applied as a fast evaporating, homogeneous ester-based solution that does not cause pain. The ether evaporates from the surface of the skin leaving a unique and ultra-thin acrylate copolymer barrier that provides reliable protection against bodily fluids and irritants for up to 72 hours. The barrier is resistant to moisture and detergents, providing effective protection against irritants such as feces, urine, secretions and wound exudate.
You should avoid using creams, lotions and ointments in combination with 3M™ Cavilon™ as this may reduce the effectiveness of the product.
Instructions for use
- Cleanse and dry the affected area of skin.
- Hold the spray gun 10-15 cm away from the skin and apply an even, even layer of 3M™ Cavilon™ over the entire affected area.
- Let the film dry for 30-60 seconds. If the product is applied to areas of skin with folds, keep the folds open until the film is completely dry.
- Do not apply more than 2 coats of 3M™ Cavilon™ as this may reduce the effectiveness of the product.
- Do not use creams, lotions or ointments in combination with 3M™ Cavilon™.
- 3M™ Cavilon™ must be reapplied every 2-3 days, or after each change of adhesive dressing under which the product is used.
- There is no need to remove 3M™ Cavilon™ from the skin surface as it dissolves under the influence of skin lipids after 72 hours of contact. The product can also be removed with medical solvent adhesives.
- 3M™ Cavilon™ does not interfere with or interfere with therapy using absorbents and/or drains.

Indications for use of 3M™ Cavilon™

The product can be used to prevent and treat maceration and irritation.
Indications
- Protection of the skin in the perineal region from contact with body fluids
- with incontinence of feces and urine, as well as skin care in the area of stoma of all types.
- Protection of the skin from fluids in the tracheostomy area, drains and fistulas.
- Protection of the skin in the peri-wound area from maceration that occurs as a result of contact with wound exudate, protection of regenerating skin in exuding wounds, as well as during therapy with vacuum wound closure.
- Prevention of adhesive injury to the skin when using surgical patches and dressings on sensitive skin.
- Protection of the skin from chafing and diaper rash in the folds.
- Protection of markings on the skin.
3M™ Cavilon™ can be used on adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients (over one month of age).
Contraindications
3M™ Cavilon™ must not be used:
- as the only physical protection of an open wound, as well as on infected areas of the skin (for example: fungal infection).
- as the only cover for a wound that needs to be covered with a dressing to prevent bacterial infection, such as the site of an venous catheter.
