Sterile surgical scalpel (size 20) from TM Medicare is designed for all types of surgical intervention in medical and preventive institutions. For the manufacture of scalpels use medical stainless steel. Disposable scalpels do not require high corrosion resistance, so they are made of hardened chromium steel for cold forming. Reusable scalpels are distinguished by either a high chromium content (95X18) or a more complex alloying (X12MF). Scalpel blades for ophthalmic operations are usually made of leucosapphire or ceramic, stellites with a thick diamond coating. Due to the high cost, they are forced to be reusable.

The scalpel consists of a blade, cutting edge, blade tip, butt, neck and handle. Scalpels can have a one-piece or combined design. In a one-piece design, all parts are one solid piece made from the same material. In a combined design, an object is a combination of metal and plastic parts, for example, a disposable scalpel. The latter are used more and more often, replacing solid scalpels.

The constituent parts of scalpels in different types of scalpels are in different proportions. This determines the appearance of the scalpel and its purpose.

Depending on the size of the blade, the following types of scalpels are distinguished:

  • microsurgical scalpel - for performing precise surgical operations under a microscope;
  • "delicate scalpel" - for performing precise tissue dissection (in otorhinolaryngology, ophthalmology, urology, surgical dentistry, maxillofacial and aesthetic surgery);
  • standard surgical scalpel - for operations in abdominal and thoracic surgery;
  • standard anatomical scalpel - for preparation in the study of human anatomy, topographic anatomy, operative surgery, forensic medicine and pathological anatomy, as well as for practicing surgical techniques;
  • special scalpels - for curly cuts.

Advantages

  • Blades are made of stainless steel;
  • The scalpel handle is made of polystyrene;
  • Oriented and laid out to one side;
  • Sterile, non-pyrogenic, non-toxic;
  • For single use;
  • Individually wrapped in foil.
