Instructions for use:
1. Stand up (unless your doctor has instructed you to do the procedure differently)
2. Move the arrow on the scale down to the zero mark (toward the end where you will inhale).
3. Hold the peak flow meter in such a way that you do not pinch the scale and outlet with your hand. Inhale as deeply as possible. Holding your breath, insert the mouthpiece into your mouth, press it lightly.
4. Do not tilt your neck back.
5. Exhale as quickly and deeply as possible. Do not block the mouthpiece with your tongue or teeth. Saliva ingress can adversely affect the measurement results.
During the measurement, the patient may experience dizziness or weakness. If these symptoms occur, stop the procedure.
6. Peak expiratory flow is indicated by an arrow on the scale. Remember where the arrow is (zone color) and move the arrow down the scale.
7. Repeat the procedure three times. Take the highest score as a pointer to what to do next.
8. As part of the diagnostic process, you should plot your high PSV or zone color each morning and evening.
Green zone - PSV more than 80% of the norm.
Yellow zone - PSV 60-80% of the norm.
Red zone - PSV less than 60% of the norm.
If your readings are predominantly outside the green zone, you should contact your doctor.
