Products made of new generation nonwoven materials meet all modern requirements for medical products. Non-woven materials perfectly replace expensive textile materials, while not inferior to such qualities as: web density, strength, ability to pass air, and so on. In non-woven materials, fibers are thermally bonded to each other, without the use of weaving. Nonwovens are used to make medical clothing and kits, surgical covers, bed linen, and much more.
The use of nonwoven materials for medical purposes is primarily due to their high functional properties:
- microporosity;
- hydrophilicity (hydrophobicity)
- good air permeability at the same time with dustproof function;
- antiseptic (barrier properties to microorganisms)
- lack of pile;
- wearing comfort.
SPUNBOND is a non-woven polypropylene microporous vapor-permeable material. The material is resistant to acids and alkalis, well sterilized. By adding various special additives to the material for the manufacture of spunbond, additional functional properties can be obtained: antiseptic, hydrophilic, hydrophobic, antibacterial.
SMS is a three-layer material - consists of 100% propylene fibers. A distinctive feature is the presence of meltblown material between the two layers of spunbond. Meltblown is a material that consists of polypropylene fibers with a thickness of 0.01 to 0.2 dtex. SMS has very high absorption properties, which allows composite materials based on it not to let through biologically active liquids, fats, chemicals.
The main application of SMS is the material for the production of disposable medical clothing. The presence of the meltblown layer increases the antibacterial properties of SMS compared to the traditionally used spunbond by 7-10 times, which is very important for medical personnel. It is also used as a filter element in protective masks. Disposable headrests in airplanes and trains, disposable bedding sets in hotels and railways around the world are made only from SMS.
