- Before gluing, it is necessary to warm the adhesive plate of the one-component calloprimer between the palms or under the arm and remove the protective coating.
- Next, you need to match the lower edge of the cut hole with the lower border of the stoma. It is necessary to start gluing the bag plate from the bottom up, pressing it tightly against the skin and smoothing it from fatigue to the edges of the plate so that wrinkles do not form.
Drainage (emptying) of open bags. Open bags should be drained (emptied) regularly. The bag must not be overfilled. When filling 1/3 of the volume of the bag with feces, it must be emptied. One-piece colostomy bags should be drained NOT peeled off the skin. To do this, you need to direct the lower end of the bag into the toilet, open the drainage hole and empty it. The drainage end of the bag should be thoroughly wiped. It is necessary to close the drainage hole after emptying the bag.
Removal of single-component colostomy bags.
It is very important to replace colostomy bags in a timely manner. If an undrained (closed) bag is 1/3 full of feces, it should be changed. If the plate begins to lag behind the skin or there are signs of skin irritation around the stoma, the bag should be removed immediately. With one hand you need to take the bag by the special ledge and carefully peel it off from top to bottom, with the other hand hold the skin. Attention! To avoid mechanical damage to the skin, do not peel off the bag with a jerk or make sudden movements. Remember that the colostomy is glued to the skin only once, its reuse is not allowed.
