Abdominal sponge (napkin with a loop) by Technocomplex is a large 12-layer gauze pad with overlocked edges. It is used in strip operations as an abdominal tissue to separate the operated organ from surrounding organs and for tamponation.
The abdominal sponge is made with a loop. It serves to fix the sponge to the operating linen or cover, to control the number of sponges used in the operated cavity. Also, a loop is needed for convenient removal of the sponge from the cavity.
Also in the abdominal sponge there is a radiopaque plate, which provides reliable control of the consequences of the operation.
